Leather and rubber and bears, oh my! Berlin's fetish-fueled Easter
This year’s Easter Berlin – Leather Fetish Week, taking place Mar. 28 through Apr. 2, once again brings plenty of club nights, sex parties, shopping specials and cultural events relating to fetish. We’ve gathered some of the most important ones for your convenience
Mar. 27, 2018 – Start your weekend with some high culture: on Mar. 29 at 20:00 at Village in Schöneberg is the opening of the exhibition Instinct.Berlin #5. This edition of the series curated by Eric LeRouge falls under the title of "Self Destruction Poetry", dealing with the creative force of destruction. Includes work by Bruce LaBruce. On the same evening, starting at 22:00, is Bäraoke at the newly remodeled Monster Ronson’s on Warschauer Straße. Over the years, the karaoke party for bears (and their admirers) has become a tradition. With the subtitle of "Animalia", it’s guaranteed to be a hairy affair. Woof!
The same demographic can meet again the next day for EasterBearDance, Mar. 30, 22:00 at SO36. Spinning tunes will be seasoned resident Axelay and guest DJ Sin Morera. There’s also a darkroom at your disposal. Earlier during the day, you can go for a cruise along the river Spree aboard the Fetish Boat. Starting at 14:00, it sets sail from the pier at Märkisches Museum for a three-hour tour through the city center. DJ RedTomCat will provide the musical accompaniment for the friendly, upbeat atmosphere. Friday night, another clubbing experience awaits you at Club Ost: the Easter edition of Revolver is dubbed the "Fetish Special XXL" with DJs Pagano, Maringo, Asaf Dolev and many more providing fat bass all night long, while all the muscle studs in their harnesses dance along.
If you’re in the mood for something hearty after a night of drinking and hopefully fucking, head to Café Ulrichs on Saturday, Mar. 31, where the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence will be serving goulash for a good cause at the annual Benefizgulasch, starting at 18:00. Once you’re fueled up, you can hop over to Sally Bowles on Eisenacher Straße, where Ben MacLean is hosting the Fetish Comedy Show at 20:00. He’ll be doing a stand-up routine in English, wearing a sexy outfit to boot. At 23:00 is what’s considered to be the highlight of the weekend: techno mecca Berghain and the sex club beneath, Lab.oratory, team up for the oversized orgy Snax – with DJs such as Hercules & Love Affair mastermind Andy Butler.
On Sunday, Apr. 1, you can come down with some culture: starting at 15:00, gay bookshop Eisenherz is celebrating the DVD release of Tom of Finland. You can get your copy signed by actor Niklas Hogner, who played the role of Kake in the film about the iconic fetish illustrator. Then at 16:30, the Schwules Museum* will host a presentation of the latest edition of the Mein schwules Auge anthology, which is also dedicated to Tom of Finland. Participants include Durk Dehner, president of the Tom of Finland Foundation. In the evening, things are back in full swing. Starting at 19:00, Connection hosts the Mister Leather Berlin competition, returning after a few years’ break. It switches into party mode at 22:00 for PiG – the first time the Folsom Europe-related party has an Easter offshoot – so you can get down and dirty to the tracks spun by Rafa Nunes and other DJs. And last but not least: the FLTI*Osterkonferenz and the kinky sex party for women and trans*, Femme Fatalities at Böse Buben, which gets going at 15:30 – unfortunately both are already sold out.
